KLU Students to Bring Energy to Villages

Global Business Incubator (GBI) and Buffalo Grid Limited announced a strategic alliance in affiliation with KL University here Friday. KLU vice-resident Koneru Raja Harin told mediamen that Buffalo Grid’s partnership with GBI in association with KLU was aimed at providing the Buffalo Grid’s innovative ‘Off-Grid Electrical Solutions’ in the Indian rural markets and, leveraging the technical and marketing support from the KLU students.

“Our solution offers power to the rural people at affordable price. The off-grid technology focuses on cell phone charging and works on solar energy and thus can be used even during power cuts,” Off-Grid Electrical Solutions managing director Daniel Becerra said.

GBI director for India Srinivas Gogineni said that they were recruiting interested students in a training programme wherein they can turn into entrepreneurs to solve the problems in rural areas. “As many as 16 start-ups have been formed by the KLU students within a year. In the next three months, we are planning to introduce it to the students of other colleges as well.” He added that they were looking for tie-ups with companies for funding.
